This will be offset somewhat with a faster kill rate, and reaching revered sooner, but overall it will take longer to get to exalted. If you can team up with someone that only wants to get revered, that would be ideal, as you may be able to make a deal with them to get all of the feathers in exchange for the rest of the loot that drops which can include several BoE blues.
If you are also grinding for Wintersaber Trainers faction will almost certainly want to have completed Salfa's Winterfall Activity quest, as you will spend a lot of timing grinding on Winterfall Furbolgs for Rivern Frostwind. His Winterfall Intrusion quest would need to be completed times by non-humans, 98 times by humans if it were the sole reputation quest done from halfway to Friendly through to Exalted. Each completion of that quest requires the killing of 10 Winterfall Furbolgs 5 Ursas and 5 Shamans , that is for humans total kills or roughly for humans beads.
The Wintersaber Trainers quests used to give much less rep: just 50 rep instead of the current for Winterfall Intrusion. That would have required doing the quest times for humans , and gotten many more beads. Donova Snowden , located by the pond a bit south of Salfa, also has a couple of quests involving the Winterfall Furbolgs, which you may want to work into your griding.
Her quests give no reputation. Completing the level 55 quest Cleansing Felwood , from Arathandris Silversky Alliance or Maybess Riverbreeze Horde , each in the rough vicinity of Grazle, will grant you a Cenarion Beacon that, as long as it is in your bags, will cause killed Deadwood Furbolgs to often drop a Corrupted Soul Shard, which can be presented in batches of 6 to your side's Emerald Circle contact for Cenarion Plant Salve, used to cleanse plants in Felwood for several different useful buffs.
Each turn in is worth the same amount of Timbermaw reputation and is a quick way to get to Exalted. The quest explains that the source of the corruption stems from a Satyr named Xandivious. Using the torch summons Xandivious. He can be killed with as few as 2 people. When defeated he drops a bag that contains "Essence of Xandivious", the requirement for the quest. Xandivious has no other drops of any kind, including cash. When you return the essence you are awarded the [ Defender of the Timbermaw ] , a trinket with a 10 minute cooldown that summons a pet shaman casts healing wave and lighting bolt that can both heal and fight.
Though earning reputation is no longer relevant at this point, this quest will also give you Timbermaw Hold reputation plus 25 for killing Xandivious. After completing this quest, you receive a followup quest called [60] The Brokering of Peace. This is completed simply by returning to either Ironforge or Orgrimmar and speaking with the racial leader there.
Some have speculated that the Hold may become a future instance. Others also speculated that the Timbermaw Furbolgs might have been the new race playable to the Alliance based on their past relationship with the night elves and their pursuit to cleanse their brothers from the corruption which currently affects them.
It is unknown what adventurers may find within the walls of Timbermaw Hold if the gates are ever opened. Currently the entrance is filled in with dirt and guarded by Gatekeeper Rageroar , a Timbermaw Shaman furbolg, and two Timbermaw Den Watchers. The structure could have been formerly made by primitive humans. Nevertheless, based on lore, dwarves are the race that build structures within mountains.
Dwarves were revealed to be formerly from the Earthen race, created by the Titan Khaz'Goroth to dig the depths of the earth to rise and shape Mountains. The Timbermaw Hold could be the fortress of the Earthen that assisted the night elves during the War of the Ancients. There is also the possibility that the Timbermaw Hold may be related or connected with the Barrow Deeps since in the Barrow Deeps are known to live at least one uncorrupted furbolg clan and also there is a side tunnel in the Timbermaw Hold, currently blocked by a door, that may connect it with the Barrow Deeps.

Comment by Is this epic trinket: Defender of the Timbermaw only available on horde side, becauce root of the evil quest seems to be only horde side?
Someone answer please! Comment by kelathai I'd recommend everyone to keep the headdress feathers and spirit beads until you reach rewered. Beyond revered you get 20 rep for each kill as well, but after that mobs stop to give reputation except the chieftain, giving 60 rep and you need to grind the items to raise your rep. It's much harder than collecting items and maybe some more to reach revered, if you didn't reach it while killing the mobs.
Comment by the High Chief Winterfall only gives me 40 rep even the chieftain in felwood gives Comment by Since the most recent patch, The Diplomat title is much easier and quicker to gain making these rep gain areas overcrowded by so many players and not to mention the 's just doing the actual quests for exp.
Weekends and evenings are the worst so i grinded early in the mornings and very late at night Comment by Went from neutral to exalted in about 6 hours. Needed only to farm 35 beads at revered after the kill grind to hit exalted. Fairly easy on my server, though I only ran into 3 questers the whole time which I grouped with to keep a steady pace.
Comment by With the recent changes to reputation gains, these mobs give full reputation at level Comment by I decided to get exalted with Timbermaw and thought other lvl 80's might find this info useful.
I did my grind in northern Felwood, I had the mobs mostly to myself aside from lowbies coming in to do their quest. The mobs spawn fast enough so you always have something to kill.
I started at Unfriendly rep. I began my grind at am. Hit Revered at pm regular furbolgs no longer give rep, only named mobs. I acquired feathers in that time 14, rep. Those are the two totem item quests rep each and the runecloth turn-in quest inside Timbermaw hold rep. Which left me with feathers to grind out for exalted.
Good luck! Comment by cedricm Is it still true as of 3. Comment by Feather grinding from revered to exalted Comment by All entrances are formed as a bear's head. Comment by Ladada It's True. He is a rare spawn at Winterfall Village in Winterspring and there is no reputation limit for this mob. Actually, named mobs DO in fact continue to give reputation after Revered.
However, the number of 20 rep stated in the article at the top is incorrect; the named mobs give 60 rep per kill at grey, continuing all the way until Exalted. Comment by H8 those fuking nolife 80s farming Timbermaw Hold rup only for a level 60 trinket, i am 60 twink and farming it for it so anooying when a 80 comes and steal all you're kills Comment by Lausten We farm it for achivements..
Comment by Stoneboar This is current as of 3. Kills are still 20 points until you hit honored 11, from then on it is just beads and feathers The Chief in the village east of Everlook "High Chief Winterfall is only 40 points at honored, at this time have not checked to see if you get points in revered or not you still get 40 points in revered at level Chieftain Bloodmaw is still 60 points when you are revered The rare "Grizzle Snowpaw" in village east of Everlook is points at honored Having just hit revered I had feathers and 55 beads I went with the Felpaw village between the tunnel and Bloodvenom Falls Last edited by Stoneboar 1 second ago Patch 3.
Comment by buzz not sure if this has been mentioed but there is a single winterfall furbolg that spawns in the northern furbolg camp in felwood. I got 2 totems along the way for bouns rep per. I was lucky when i did this started around 6pm ish and finished up at 5 to 11 lol. Not much competition as the kiddies were in bed around 9pm and then it was a breeze.
Well at least i dont have to deal with this again. Was a fun grind though. So, essentially, this should take you about an hour to get exalted now. I'm leaving the original post as a relic of pre-Shattering. And as something to point to if people ever, ever, complain about how hard the game is, lol. It took me just about 5 hours and 14 minutes to go from Neutral to Exalted with the Timbermaw Hold.
I would expect between 4 and 4 and a half hours to exalted if you did all of your killing in the Northern Felwood Camp. However, you will make less gold, depending on your server economy.
I hope you find this helpful. March 11, Patch 3. Some basic parameters to realize at this stage of the game Current as of Patch 3. After that point no reputation is gained by killing mobs. There are two basic items which may be turned in repeatedly for Rep per 5 items. First are Deadwood Headdress Feathers. Second are Winterfall Spirit Beads. Thanks to the math of a few posters here on Wowhead, we know that Deadwood Headdress Feathers or Winterfall Spirit Beads are needed to go from Revered to Exalted aka reputation.
I am going to discuss ONLY killing mobs and turning in these specific rep items. To talk about the various other rare one time turn in items would be redundant, they are listed all over the place.
You will be grateful in the end. As of right now, I am killing with a 74 Enhancement Shaman. Kill Speeds however are pretty much instant at any DPS class level over Aside from the mind numbing repetitiveness of rep farming, Timbermaw Hold is actually not bad anymore for two reasons.
First you get the rep from kills at any player level. Second, you can potentially make a great deal of gold at the same time as rep farming. Gold from Timbermaw Farming Having done this once before on another toon, I figured out that the rep grind makes a great deal of money.
How much depends on your server's economy and the average price of a given cloth. On my server, Mageweave sells for roughly twice as much as Runecloth ; roughly g per stack. Now, there are four primary "subzones" for kill grinding. The only farm spot which drops consistent Mageweave is the Southern Felwood camp. This has a downside; the lower level of the mobs in S. Felwood means that fewer Feathers drop from them. It's not dramatically less than the Northern Camp, but, it may extend your farming a few hours total.
To me, the doubling of value from cloth drops makes the extra time worth it. Of course, this is all up to you, whether you just want rep or whether runecloth sells better than Mageweave on your server, etc.
The following are the NPCs I am committing genocide against: Deadwood Gardener Deadwood Pathfinder Deadwood Warrior One final thought before we go into kill times and drops: This is only one persons go through of this rep grind.
The only thing that should be super effected by this is the actual total time in each section. Thus why its the "Kill Rep Grind" Scroll down to the bottom of the second post for a discussion on how I decided to make up the remaining feathers Time Spent: 4 hours 11 minutes. Numbers from the Northern Felwood Camp Alright, I'm just going to say it; if all you want is rep and rep fast then go straight to the Northern Camp.
The feather drop rate is pretty much double that of the Southern Camp. I did the feathers needed in just over an hour. Silver drops are higher as well, with a similar drop rate on the Runecloth as the Mageweave. Speeds it up slightly, but no a whole lot.
The kills needed to do rep worked out to about 4 and a half per minute roughly. It is slow going to start, however, once you clear the camp once or twice you will notice that the spawn rates for the various Furblog increases rapidly. This was also done with no competition from other farmers; it appears the glut of people post 3.
I will keep the other drops to vendor trash and see if the increase in gold is worth the potential downtime. I've emptied my bags completely into the bank before heading out.
We'll see if there's any serious difference between time. March 9, This was slightly less speed wise then yesterday. Total time to get through Friendly was 1 hour 9 minutes, but I don't believe this was due to spec shift in fact kill speed increased. Rather, it was competition from the random player trying to grind rep as well.
This only happened twice during the time stated, presumably they left from frustration with either the grind itself or my inability to let them have mobs.
I did, however, join a part for about 10 minutes to help them get the quest done, I guess I'm not entirely heartless in these situations, lol. There was an interesting trend in the drops themselves.
It appears the Furblog rarely drop anything outside cloth, feathers, and greens. Yes, there were the occasional white items, but Drop List: 58 Deadwood Headdress Feathers Further, I have turned off all lootfilter restrictions, letting the greys et al come right into the bag.
I still had 50 bag slots available at the end of stage one Stage 1: March 10, Logged in directly after the server came back online. There was zero competition, so, slightly faster total time today than yesterday with 1 hour and 4 minutes. I also counted since yes, you have that kind of time on your hands while grinding here that there are 34 total Deadwood mob spawn points in the Southern Camp. After the first clearing of these 34 mobs, there is a random spawn timer between 3 and 7 minutes for each individual spot.
In essence, there is a 3 minute "dead zone" after first clear and then you should be consistently killing Deadwood for the rest of your grind session. Further, a full first clear nets rep and takes after lvl70 about 2 minutes. Drop List: 74 Deadwood Headdress Feathers Total Feathers Remaining: 11, rep left in feathers Kills Left: Anyone who is reading the numbers correctly has probably realized that I won't have enough feathers at the end of the kill rep grind to make it allllll the way through Revered-Exalted.
We'll see at the end how much rep I need to hit exalted, what the options are for the last amount of rep, and how long that takes. I'll then go back and amend the initial parameters to include the method best used to combat the rep gap issue.
As of right this second, I only have 9, rep from feathers; a little less then half of the to get through the last level. Stage 2: The slowest 6k rep of the grind at 1 hour 14 minutes.
I had a lot of competition though. And no, they weren't lvl 55; these were level 80s. A side effect of doing this grind is you get a "6th sense" lol of where the spawn points are next.
Very helpful. I'm sure you noticed the "". You cannot ding into revered without turning in either a quest or rep items IE Feathers or Beads. SO here it is, the kill rep grind portion completed. Drop List: 56 Deadwood Headdress Feathers Amazingly consistent And not a single green or blue.
How to Make Up the Missing Rep After a bunch of thought, I decided that killing another Deadwood in the south to get the final feathers just didn't seem like much fun or very informative given we already have a sample size of over kills to draw conclusions about the southern camp from. I am going to move to the Northern Felwood Camp and do one massive genocide until I have gotten the feathers needed to ding in with exalted. I'll post all the numbers here and we'll compare the Northern and Southern Camp.
As an aside, I do realize that I could go do some Winterspring quests and very likely get the missing rep that way. I skipped Winterspring on Suriea completely, so there are a bunch of quests. However, I set out to do this guide as a "kills to exalted" post to bring the info to Wowhead. Those of you doing this grind, please read some of the other great posts on how to get the rep through questing, cloth turn ins, etc.
The feather drop rate is double that of the Southern Camp. Comment by Umega I believe now in 3. About damn time Blizz. Comment by Definately grind like mad until you hit revered by killing the guys for 20 rep a kill. Also if you do the 30 Runecloth turn in it will give you rep towards Timbermaw. Comment by Fimbri Started grinding at the northern camp at , exalted at When I started, I was friendly with some 2k into honored. It's not that crazy grind since you get full rep for gray kills, this time does factor in me boiling tea, taking few shorts breaks and selling grays at the Timbermaw vendor.
Fact is, I only had competition for the first hour and few mins, an ally druid that got more kills than I did and then a blood elf DK that wasn't fast.
Also, thanks to the posters above for the great guide, did speed me up a good bit. Crappiest pattern ever seen that nobody buys even at 2g per. Note : 80 enhancement shammy.
Comment by Timbermaw Hold tunnel is now mountable. Have Fun and I hope this helps a bit. Comment by Flatch I farmed the northern camp and made it to revered and still needed ish feathers. Spread it out over 2 days and also managed to get about 18k rep with The Mag'har on the second day.
Comment by OleMarYUlberg As a 65 Human Warrior, it took me exactly 2 hr to grind myself from zeroHonored to zeroRevered grinding kills only, got to just under 13kRevered on the feathers I collected on the way. Comment by I created a simple formula in excel to help me calculate how many feathers I needed to farm from the Felpaw Village. Cell C3 contained my current rep. Cell C7 contained my rep needed to acheive the next rep level from honored to revered, for example.
Don't be alarmed if it's a large number. It goes down exponentially as you kill Deadwood furbolgs, and then after as you cash in feathers or beads. Once you've reached the next limit, as per the example cells used, set cell C3 to what your rep becomes probably a small number and cell C7 to the new limit for example, from for honored to revered to for revered to exalted.
I'm also regretting cashing some of the rep quests before I hit revered. Of course, with some small tweaks you change this formula to represent any grind that you want.
Comment by 38, 33 in Azshara. Anyone have any information on this? Before you ignorantly downrate this, please go have a look. Comment by temu92 Grinded this thing to exalted today. It took about 4 or 5 hours but it was with diplomacy human racial. Furbolgs in northern Felwood drop feathers in my opinion much more often than southern furbolgs in Felwood or Winterfall furbolgs drop beads in Winterspring.
Killing named furbolg in northern or southern Felwood gives 60 rep 66 with diplomacy which is nice boost during boring farm. Furbolg in Winterspring gives only 40 reputation 44 with diplomacy when killed. Reputation from these creatures continues after reaching revered.
Once you've reached revered you have to turn in total of beads or feathers or combined both like I did. Amount is reduced to if you're human. You will get amazing amount of runecloth and mageweave cloth if you farm in southern Felwood during the grind. Only if someone proves themselves by driving back the corrupted Deadwood tribe and Winterfall tribe , may they one day consider them as an ally. Only allies are allowed to pass freely through the tunnel. Players begin at unfriendly reputation with Timbermaw Hold faction, but can very quickly minutes reach exalted.
There are a few short quest chains and some one-time quests which provide a large amount of reputation. Also, there are repeatable turn-in quests for items dropped from enemies in the Deadwood tribe Felwood and Winterfall tribe Winterspring. Each kill on these enemies also provides a small amount of reputation. Building a reputation with this faction allows access to a number of crafting recipes and other benefits such as the [ Stave of Fur and Claw ] disguise item.
This is a component of [ The Diplomat ] , along with Sporeggar , and either Mag'har or Kurenai respectively. The strategy and time requirement to advance this reputation was significantly changed in The Shattering see here for prior version.
Entrance as it's seen from Moonglade. This will allow you to loot [ Deadwood Headdress Feather ] items from the Furbolg in the area. These feathers can be turned in via a repeatable quest to Grazle for reputation per 5 feathers. Players may choose to simply grind the Deadwood here in the south area for 20 reputation each kill, and turn in feathers all the way until exalted. This is a good option if you want to save the rest of the zone's quests for later, or just want a simple alternative.
Be on the lookout for the level 45 rare spawn Ragepaw , which provides a bit more reputation. While doing so, kill Deadwood until you locate a [ Deadwood Ritual Totem ] quest starter item and have collected Feathers in multiples of 5 to turn in to Nafien. Hand in the one-time quests and all Feathers. Accept the [] Speak to Salfa quest and head into the Timbermaw Hold tunnel. From there, follow the east tunnel to emerge into Winterspring.
