How many animated batman series are there
The series was produced by Warner Bros. Animation and originally aired on the Fox Network from September 5, to September 15, The visual style of the series, dubbed "Dark Deco," was based on the artwork of producer and artist Bruce Timm, The series was widely praised for its thematic complexity, dark tone, artistic quality and faithfulness to the character's crime-fighting origins.
The series features the adventures of the Dark Knight of Gotham City as he battles the evil that inhabits the city with the occasional help of Robin and Batgirl in stories that are faithful to the comics in both spirit and tone. On the other hand, the Joker's accomplice Harley Quinn, Gotham City police detective Renee Montoya and the vigilante Lock-up achieved such popularity that they became characters in the comics.
Older villains that were lesser known from the comics, such as Count Vertigo, the Mirror Man and the Clock King, were modified for the series in both appearance and personality. The series was also the first to suggest that Harvey Dent had a pre-existing dual personality before becoming Two-Face. This idea came from Alan Burnett, one of the series' producers and head writers. Aside from creating characters that crossed over into the main line of DC Comics, several of the series' reinterpretations were carried over as well.
Freeze was revised in the comics to emulate the series' tragic story, the success of which actually compelled DC to bring the character back after "killing" him off some years earlier, Clayface was revised to be much more similar in appearance to his animated counterpart, and Two-Face's double-sided, black-and-white suit has become a common appearance for the character. In nearly all other media, including the comics, television shows and films, Bruce deliberately plays up his image as a self-absorbed and not-too-bright billionaire playboy.
In the animated series, his character is instead treated more seriously; he is assertive and intelligent, and actively involved in the management of Wayne Enterprises, without jeopardizing his secret identity.
For example: in the episode "Eternal Youth", Bruce is shown angrily ordering one of his directors to cancel a secret deal with a timber company in the Amazon rainforest. In addition, during the episode "Night of the Ninja", he revealed to reporter Summer Gleeson that he has some martial arts training, as the reporter previously researched that he once lived in Japan, though he later throws a fight with the ninja Kyodai Ken in front of Gleeson to disguise his prowess.
We already briefly touched on Batman's earliest animated appearances on the Filmation Superman shorts, which soon carried over into the iconic Super Friends animated series. Super Friends debuted in and aired until over a few different related titles. Batman and Robin were joined by Superman, Wonder Woman, and a varying roster of Justice League members and some created specifically for the show.
When Batman: Assault on Arkham was first released, it brought a new yet familiar version of Batman to the DC Animated Universe in this medium-crossing feature-length film. While Assault on Arkham was mostly a Suicide Squad film, it was set in the video game world first seen in the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game franchise. Batman was voiced by Kevin Conroy in the Arkham games, and he reprised that role for the animated film as well. Mark Hamill also returned to voice his version of the Joker , which has become as iconic as Conroy's interpretation of the Batman.
Warner Bros. Animation began releasing feature-length animated films back in , which featured original stories mixed with animated adaptations of comic storylines. This meant that fans were finally able to see a number of amazing Batman stories adapted into feature-length movies, including hits like Batman: Under the Red Hood and Batman: The Killing Joke.

Prime Video Rent or Buy IMDb user rating average 1 1. With yet another animated series on the horizon for the Dark Knight, we wanted to take another look back at the solo series that helped build Batman's animated history. After the Batman series starring Adam West exploded, cartoons were produced based on the series' popularity. It was only the beginning as this would spawn the Super Friends , for better or for worse, as well as crossovers with The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
It's certainly dated but many share fond memories of it. The New Batman Adventures was more or less a continuation of the previous show but featured better animation and some familiar voices: Adam West and Burt Ward reprising their iconic roles years after their own show's cancelation. They continued to excel in the roles but this show decided to go in an interesting direction.
This was the show that introduced Bat-Mite as their cute but annoying little sidekick. Much like Scrappy-Doo from Scooby-Doo or Kazoo from The Flintstones , it was not the best of ideas and was a big reason why the show lasted only one season. When it comes to Batman, there is only one animated show that instantly enters the minds of fans all over and that is 's critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series.
Kevin Conroy's Batman and Mark Hamill's Joker have become iconic and still sometimes voice the characters to this very day.
