Should i teach infernape grass knot

We'll analyze the viability, strengths, weaknesses, and movesets of Infernape through every generation. If you want Infernapes entire competitive history, then read Sparkly 's post in addition to this one. Infernape's stats are almost perfectly placed to be a fast, mixed attacker, with base speed and in both special attack AND physical attack, Infernape can seriously dent almost anything it comes up against.

It's only real flaw in it's stats are those painfully low defenses, but a mixed glass cannon doesn't exactly need the best defenses. If Infernape's attacking movepool is good, it's utility moves are amazing. This movepool paired with Infernape's stats make for a terrifyingly diverse and unpredictable mixed sweeper.

Ground types like Hippowdon and Swampert can beat any physical set, but both fall to Grass Knot. Dugtrio can also trap, outspeed and kill Infernape with Earthquake. Finally, Togekiss and Moltres can threaten Infernape with Air Slash and take little damage from any of it's moves. Counters asside, Infernape was an unpredictable offensive powerhouse, and easily landed in OU, and it even saw play in Ubers, it was just that good. Infernape is one of the better fake out users in VGC12, with a good speed stat and as an immediate offensive presence, Infernape could go 1v1 against almost anything, either KOing them or leaving them irrepairably wounded.

Fake Out could win some time for Infernapes allies to put in some work, and Infernape's high speed made it one of the better users of this move. Close Combat had great damage output, even without setup, and a choice of Overheat or Heat Wave can put anything weak to fire in it's place.

Bulky waters like Politoed give Infernape a whole lot of trouble as well, and Ludicolo in rain can ruin Infernape. That being said, Infernape was still a dominant force in VGC12, being used in many top-8 teams in various regional and national championships, although I couldn't find any usage of it in the top cut of worlds.
